Retail company TJX has issued a recall of nearly 82,000 office chairs sold at T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and HomeSense stores in the United States due to safety concerns. The U.S.

Consumer Product Safety Commission received a dozen reports of the back of the chairs breaking or detaching from the seat base when a consumer was seated in a chair at a store, including 10 reports of injuries that resulted in contusions, strains, numbness, bruising and one reported concussion. Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled chairs immediately.

The chairs retailed for $60 to $70 and were sold between June 2019 and December 2022; they have a circle, cushioned seat that attaches to an adjustable metal stand and five wheels.

They were sold in various colours and a hang tag on the product contains one of the following style numbers: GT646, GT646A, GT646AA, GT646AB, GT646AABO. “ANJI GUOTAI Furniture Co. Ltd.” and “Made in China” are printed on a label underneath the seat, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Consumers can return the recalled chairs to any Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods or Homesense store for a full refund, or contact TJX.
